2010 BMW S1000RR Development and Design
The New BMW S 1000 RR.

1. Overall Concept and Features.
2. Drivetrain.
3. Suspension and Running Gear.
4. Electric and Electronics.
5. Body and Design.
6. Range of Equipment.
7. Engine Output and Torque.
8. Specifications.

Overall Concept and Features.

The new BMW S 1000 RR is a highly innovative straight-four supersports from
BMW Motorrad now making its world debut.
This true milestone in the world of sports machines combines engine output of
142 kW (193 hp) with overall weight of just 204 kg (450 lb) including fuel (183
kg/403.5 lb dry weight, 206.5 kg/455.3 lb overall with Race ABS).
Specifications of this calibre make this supersports machine not only an absolute
highlight in terms of its power-to-weight ratio and performance, but also,
equipped with Race ABS and DTC Dynamic Traction Control, a new benchmark
in terms of riding dynamics, safety and innovation.
Team BMW Motorrad Motorsport has been playing an active role in the World
Superbike Championship since the beginning of the 2009 racing season,
the new S 1000 RR setting the foundation for the production-based racing
machines ridden by BMW Motorrad's two works riders Troy Corser and
Ruben Xaus.
The Challenge for BMW Motorrad.
To successfully enter the World Championship with a Superbike today, a
manufacturer needs a production model with the right kind of overall concept
consistently applied in all areas. The essential factors, therefore, are supreme
power, a wide range of engine speed, fast revving capacity also over a long
period, optimum chassis stiffness, and perfect set-up of the engine.
Other features absolutely essential more than ever particularly in the top league
of supersports motorcycles are simple and straightforward rideability, lightfooted
handling, absolutely outstanding all-round performance as well as safety
features such as rider assistance systems like ABS and traction control giving
the customer precisely what he needs.
Developing the RR, BMW Motorrad has entered completely new, unchartered
terrain. Clearly, this meant a huge range of new challenges and responsibilities
for the entire Development Team, but also gave the Team enormous motivation
in seeking to set new standards.
The specific targets in developing the S 1000 RR were therefore clear:
o To achieve output and performance of the highest standard.
o To make the suspension absolutely stable, with top handling and supreme
traction.
o To give the new machine that unmistakable, dynamic design of
BMW Motorrad.
o To reduce the weight of the motorcycle to an absolute minimum.
o To ensure top quality typical of BMW .
Unique against the competition.
Over the years and decades, the principle of combining a straight-four power
unit with an aluminium bridge frame has been consistently developed and
has become the dominating technical concept particularly in the supersports
segment. The reason, quite simply, is that a motorcycle of this kind offers
signifi cant benefits in terms of riding dynamics, long-distance endurance, and
straightforward production.
Precisely this is why the new S 1000 RR also applies this concept with its
proven fortes and advantages. But even while the S 1000 RR, in its concept
teaming up a straight-four power unit and an aluminium bridge frame, may
appear at fi rst sight to have similarities with some competitors, the Development
Team at BMW Motorrad has succeeded in enhancing the existing status of this
concept in virtually every respect.
As a result, the S 1000 RR offers not only a wide range of USPs in terms of
technology, performance, and design, but also, through its particularly compact
overall layout, clearly demonstrates the high school of European engineering in
the supersports four-cylinder segment.

2010 BMW K1300S

2010 BMW K1300S
• 2010 BMW K1300S

2010 BMW K1300S
The interceptor. The athlete. Aerodynamic, avant-garde. Do you know of another sporty bike with this profile? A bike that develops such pulling power with 175 hp that it take the heat out of many a 200 hp bike? But a bike you can still take out on a quick trip simply because it has great everyday suitability? At the same time a technological treat? The reasons: 103 lb/ft (140 Nm) from 1,293 cc – and at 8,250 rpm too. With a throaty sound from a cool, hexagonal tube. With catalytic converter and exhaust valve. And with fuel consumption and exhaust emission values which would suit many a machine with half the dynamic performance.
With this jet, the whole concept of speed moves into a new dimension. This in-line 4-cylinder delivers its power in such a way that you can almost feel it when standing still. That’s because within the engine speed ranges in which you move more than 80% of the time – i.e. the lower and medium speed ranges – it delivers performance from the first yard. The real thing. And in terms of safety features, this machine is unique: ABS as standard with ASC and ESA optional. And the extras are amazing: race through the gears with the automatic shift function, pure racing in view with the 2D dashboard.
The BMW K 1300 S: supreme power with the sportiest of understatement. Why not try it out right away!

Extreme power. Thrilling acceleration. Instant responses across the rev range. Welcome to the ultimate sports tourer - the new BMW K 1300 S.
Its styling alone promises speed and performance. And with an output of 175hp and 140Nm of torque, speed and performance is exactly what you get. Your heart races with the engine all the way up to 11,000 rpm. And yet you remain completely calm, thanks to a highly practical design, outstanding safety features and a chassis that is a marvel of precision engineering. If you want to be the best, there's no room for half measures.
The designers of the BMW K 1300 S were very clear about their aims: even more power, even more performance. The result is a machine that combines the excitement of a track bike with the practical features needed for long-distance riding on the road, such as the famous BMW Motorrad Duolever and BMW Motorrad ABS.
The K 1300 S is also available with ESA II Electronic Suspension Adjustment as an option, allowing you to modify the suspension set-up depending on the load you are carrying.

Conceived consistently as a sports machine, the K1300S has not only maintained, but in many areas even enhanced the qualities of its predecessor. As a result, this new high-performer combines fascinating and innovative technology of the highest calibre with outstanding all-round qualities and safety. On the road this means even greater riding precision and agility, even more dynamic power and performance, and, at the same time, the superior safety and ease of control in all situations so typical of a BMW.

• 2010 BMW S1000RR

2010 BMW S1000RR
When we build a superbike, we have no time for second best. We now present the very latest in racing power. With an aluminium bridge, radial brakes, a super sporty tail-up nose-down design, hot colours and the ultimate combination of electronic rider assistance systems: the first genuine racing ABS, whose features include a front-wheel-only mode, dynamic traction control (DTC) which permits varying degrees of slip, depending on the lean angle. The more the rider hangs off, the more upright the bike and the longer the lines on leaving the curve. Never before was it so easy to keep so much power under control. This is just as true on public roads as it is down on the racetrack. The RR label shows that it is a full-blooded racing bike, even though it can also be ridden with a number plate attached. To top it all off is an engine which is our absolute pride and joy. And our motorsports team agree wholeheartedly.
A motorcycle designed for the race track, built to deliver acceleration that takes your breath away.
The DoubleR is a genuine race bike, even though it can also be ridden with a number plate attached. To top it all off is an engine which is our absolute pride and joy. And our Motorsport team agree wholeheartedly.

The new BMW S 1000 RR is a highly innovative straight-four supersports from BMW Motorrad now making its world debut.

This true milestone in the world of sports machines combines engine output of 142 kW (193 hp) with overall weight of just 204 kg (450 lb) including fuel (183 kg/403.5 lb dry weight, 206.5 kg/455.3 lb overall with Race ABS).
Specifications of this calibre make this supersports machine not only an absolute highlight in terms of its power-to-weight ratio and performance, but also, equipped with Race ABS and DTC Dynamic Traction Control, a new benchmark in terms of riding dynamics, safety and innovation.

Team BMW Motorrad Motorsport has been playing an active role in the World Superbike Championship since the beginning of the 2009 racing season, the new S 1000 RR setting the foundation for the production-based racing machines ridden by BMW Motorrad’s two works riders Troy Corser and Ruben Xaus.

After spending its inaugural development season challenging the 2009 World Superbike Championship with factory riders Ruben Xaus and two-times world champion Australian Troy Corser, the new S1000RR exceeded expectations, finishing the series with a gratifying seventeen top-ten finishes. The S1000RR is now poised to arrive in BMW Motorrad showrooms in January of 2010.
The S1000RR will debut with an MSRP of $17,300, a price that includes Race ABS, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and Gear Shift Assist as standard equipment. The only option available on the S1000RR will be the Alarm System, priced at $265.
Combining an all-new high-performance engine with lightweight construction, sophisticated chassis dynamics and race-engineered brake and suspension components, the BMW S1000RR will set a new benchmark for ultra-high performance motorcycles - on both the racetrack and the road.
The 999cc liquid-cooled, DOHC, sixteen valve, inline four-cylinder power unit is brand-new from the ground up, bred for racing, developing a maximum output of 193 hp at 13,000 rpm (rev-limited to14,200 rpm) and maximum torque of 82.5 lb-ft at 9,750 rpm.
With overall weight of just 206.5 kg including fuel and Race ABS the S1000RR will also take its place as the lightest motorcycle equipped with ABS in the supersports category.
The combination sets a new standard in its class with a power-to-weight ratio of just 1.06 kg (2.34 lb) per horsepower with Race ABS.
The new BMW S1000RR has been designed not only to compete in the World Superbike Championship, but to take its place among the élite of supersports motorcycles.

Features and Specifications
You’ve gotta have it!
Speed has to be kept under control. And motorcycle control is exactly what we have been constantly reinventing over the last 20 years. The S 1000 RR represents a milestone in electronic rider safety: ultra-lightweight ABS (2.5kg), which can be used in conjunction with the extremely efficient DTC dynamic traction control (available as an optional extra) – quite unique for 2009.
Racing ABS for all conditions
You couldn’t wish for a more discreet ABS; it has fine control intervals, is virtually imperceptible in its operation, and is light enough to satisfy fans of low-weight bikes.

DTC – transparent traction control you can rely on.
This dynamic feature reacts reliably and efficiently to speed, lean angle, and operating mode (rain, sport, race, or slick). It was specifically designed to be as effective on the road as it is on the racetrack.

Radially mounted Brembo brake callipers
This is how today’s superbikes decelerate. Not only do brake disks mounted directly on the wheel rims look good, they also reduce unsprung mass.

A superlative engine.
An extreme bore/stroke ratio (80x49.7mm) and rocker arm-actuated valves for great stability at high engine speeds, compact construction and lightweight design – a genuine powerhouse which demonstrates its considerably ability at all output levels.

A design that doesn't just look good
Intelligently positioned slits behind the fairing minimise turbulence to allow the rider to maintain a relaxed head position, optimum air-flow around rider and bike ensures stability at top speed, while efficient flow-through makes for maximum cooling. Combined with plenty of eye-catching design features – that’s the way to do it.

Sporty seat positioning.
If you want to be fast, you have to adopt a relaxed racing posture. The way you sit must allow you to concentrate on the essential aspects of motorcycling – maximum enjoyment and perfect control. The looser you are on the bike, the easier everything else will be. Gone are the days when you had to bend yourself flat. Today's modern posture means you are actually sitting more in the bike than on it.

The Challenge for BMW Motorrad.
To successfully enter the World Championship with a Superbike today, a manufacturer needs a production model with the right kind of overall concept consistently applied in all areas. The essential factors, therefore, are supreme power, a wide range of engine speed, fast revving capacity also over a long period, optimum chassis stiffness, and perfect set-up of the engine.
Other features absolutely essential more than ever particularly in the top league of supersports motorcycles are simple and straightforward rideability, light-footed handling, absolutely outstanding all-round performance as well as safety features such as rider assistance systems like ABS and traction control giving the customer precisely what he needs.
Developing the RR, BMW Motorrad has entered completely new, unchartered terrain. Clearly, this meant a huge range of new challenges and responsibilities for the entire Development Team, but also gave the Team enormous motivation in seeking to set new standards.

The specific targets in developing the S 1000 RR were therefore clear:
•To achieve output and performance of the highest standard.
•To make the suspension absolutely stable, with top handling and supreme traction.
•To give the new machine that unmistakable, dynamic design of BMW Motorrad.
•To reduce the weight of the motorcycle to an absolute minimum.
•To ensure top quality typical of BMW .

Unique against the competition.
Over the years and decades, the principle of combining a straight-four power unit with an aluminium bridge frame has been consistently developed and has become the dominating technical concept particularly in the supersports segment. The reason, quite simply, is that a motorcycle of this kind offers significant benefits in terms of riding dynamics, long-distance endurance, and straightforward production.
Precisely this is why the new S 1000 RR also applies this concept with its proven fortes and advantages. But even while the S 1000 RR, in its concept teaming up a straight-four power unit and an aluminium bridge frame, may appear at first sight to have similarities with some competitors, the Development Team at BMW Motorrad has succeeded in enhancing the existing status of this concept in virtually every respect.
As a result, the S 1000 RR offers not only a wide range of USPs in terms of technology, performance, and design, but also, through its particularly compact overall layout, clearly demonstrates the high school of European engineering in the supersports four-cylinder segment.

Maximum performance and riding dynamics.
The consistent concept of the RR supersports is borne out in particular by the truly fascinating, innovative high-performance technology and incomparable riding dynamics of this new machine. The result is an exceptional combination of supreme riding precision and agility, on the one hand, with unparalleled engine power and performance, on the other, providing an overall package truly unique in the market.
Never before has a BMW motorcycle been conceived and built more consistently for supersports riding in terms of its concept and overall construction. But at the same time the new S 1000 RR retains many of the virtues so typical of every BMW to this day: Extreme sportiness and riding dynamics combined with supreme everyday riding qualities, playful handling together with supreme riding stability, outstanding performance combined with unparalleled active safety, as well as dynamic, unmistakable design in conjunction with optimum ergonomics and aerodynamics.

Free choice of engine characteristics as well as Race ABS and DTC Dynamic Traction Control
The new S 1000 RR also excels through features and qualities typical of BMW such as a long running life, superior quality of production and optimum environmental compatibility thanks to the use of the most advanced exhaust management with two fully controlled three-way catalytic converters also able to fulfil future standards and requirements.
Active safety when braking is significantly enhanced by Race ABS developed especially for the S 1000 RR as a genuine supersports and available as an option straight from the factory. A further most significant feature likewise contributing to active safety of the highest standard is DTC Dynamic Traction Control also available as an option and masterminded electronically for supreme precision and practical value.
Facing various riding conditions such as wet roads (“Rain”), regular road conditions (“Sport”), a race track with supersport tyres (“Race”), or a race track with slicks (“Slick”), the rider also has the choice of various engine characteristics and set-ups available at the touch of a button. And last but not least, Race ABS and Dynamic Traction Control are combined with the respective riding modes and coordinated with one another to ensure a supreme standard of performance and safety all in one.

Valve drive for maximum engine speeds, with single cam followers and titanium valves.
The primary objective in developing the new S 1000 RR was to create a supersports with supreme engine power combined with optimum rideability for the highest conceivable standard of all-round performance.
The water-cooled four-cylinder inline power unit chosen to provide these qualities is brand-new from the ground up, developing maximum output of 142 kW (193 hp) at 13,000 rpm and revving up to a maximum speed of 14,200 rpm. Maximum torque of 112 Nm (82.5 lb-ft), in turn, comes at 9,750 rpm.
The two intake and exhaust valves per cylinder made of extra-light titanium are operated by very small and equally light single cam followers. In conjunction with the short sprocket driving the camshaft via an intermediate gear, this ensures supreme revving qualities at the highest speeds as well as exact maintenance of valve timing combined with very compact dimensions.
The use of extremely small and light cam followers furthermore gives the engineer greater freedom in choosing the ideal valve lift curves and, accordingly, in selecting optimum performance characteristics on both road and track.
All engine components are particularly compact and light, limiting weight of the overall engine without ancillaries to 59.8 kg (131.8 lb) and keeping the entire power unit very slim and slender.

Innovative exhaust system with interference pipe butterflies for optimum power and performance.
Made completely of stainless steel, the exhaust system featured by the S 1000 RR is designed consistently for optimum power and performance. It works according to the 4-in-2-in-1 principle with four individual manifolds of equal length first merging into two pipes beneath the engine block and then extending into a large-volume pre-silencer. From there the exhaust emissions flow through a very short and dynamically designed rear-end silencer to the outside.
A homogeneous power and torque curve ensuring optimum rideability is acknowledged as the requirement for sporting performance on the road and fast lap times on the track. Precisely this is why the exhaust system featured on the S 1000 RR comes with two fully controlled interference pipe butterflies housed in two connection pipes for the two outer and two inner manifolds, in the immediate vicinity of the exhaust ducts. As a function of various parameters such as engine speed and the position of the throttle butterfly, an adjuster opens or closes these flaps, allowing exhaust gas to flow freely between the two manifolds or, respectively, interrupting the flow of gas. This coordinates the sequence of oscillations in the exhaust gas mass flow, reducing exhaust gas counter-pressure at the decisive point (like on a racing muffler) and increasing the cylinder charge accordingly.
This factor alone makes a significant contribution to the very high standard of homogenous overall performance offered by the S 1000 RR.

Lightest supersports with Race ABS.
The new RR offers the highest standard of technology also on its suspension and running gear. Weighing just 206.5 kg or 455.3 lb in road trim and with a full tank, BMW ’s new supersports is by far the lightest machine of its calibre displacing 999 cc and featuring Race ABS brakes.
One of the features that ensures this light weight is the aluminium bridge frame integrating the engine tilted to the front at an angle of 32° as a load-bearing element for optimum torsional stiffness on minimum weight. The front wheel runs on an upside-down fork with a fixed tube measuring an ample 46 millimetres or 1.81" in diameter, while a torsionally stiff swing arm made of aluminium holds the rear wheel in position.
The spring and damping action required is provided by a central spring strut pivoting on a guide lever.
The rear frame section of the S 1000 RR is a welded light-alloy structure belted to the mainframe, combining low weight with superior stability and a high standard of robust strength particularly important to riders and teams on the race track.

Putting the rider right in the centre.
The rider’s seating position leaning forward towards the front wheel for an active style of riding is simply ideal for the sporting rider with his particularly dynamic style.
Developing the S 1000 RR, BMW Motorrad has given particular attention to the superior ergonomics of the machine, providing ideal qualities for both small and tall riders and therefore focusing consistently on the rider’s individual requirements. The tank section is as slender as on a 600-cc machine, giving the rider the assurance of excellent control and handling at all times.
In the process of developing the S 1000 RR, BMW Motorrad focused not only on a lightweight structure, but also on minimum, highly compact dimensions as an absolutely essential requirement.
To give the S 1000 RR an extremely slender front silhouette but at the same time to ensure a highly efficient flow of cooling air, the engineers at BMW Motorrad had to show all their skill, since, with cylinder bore measuring 80 millimetres or 3.15”, the power unit of the RR has the largest cylinder bore in this segment with a correspondingly wide cylinder head.
Technical challenges of this kind as well as a development period of just four years made the S 1000 RR the ideal project for consistent, all-out use of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) technology as well as the most advanced calculation methods, for example for the machine’s aerodynamics.
As the bottom line, the S 1000 RR is the absolutely ideal motorcycle for the customers of BMW Motorrad looking for new, unprecedented standards and qualities in the supersports segment.

2010 BMW F800R Chris Pfeiffer Edition
• 2010 BMW F800R Chris Pfeiffer Edition

2010 BMW F800R Chris Pfeiffer Edition
With the BMW F 800 R, BMW Motorrad expanded its F 800 model series for 2009, presenting a sporty roadster designed for a high level of riding dynamics and maximum riding pleasure in the segment of the medium category naked bikes. In addition to the two roadsters R 1200 R and K 1300 R, it was the third BMW roadster to see its international premiere in the BMW Motorrad Urban world of experience.
But it wasn’t just on public roads that the dynamic BMW naked bike swiftly made a name for itself. The extreme ease of handling which the F 800 R allows its rider was demonstrated by four-times World and European Stunt-Riding Champion Chris Pfeiffer as long ago as 2007 and 2008 on an F 800 S specially adapted to his needs and closely resembling the later F 800 R. Since the official presentation of this model in November 2008 in Milan, motorcycle acrobat Chris Pfeiffer has now been riding the new F 800 R at international competitions and shows – on a version which is only distinguished from the serial production machine in some details.
In the course of 2008, Chris Pfeiffer took part in stunt shows and contests on 85 days - and this year his appointment schedule is equally full. Chris Pfeiffer says: “No matter whether it’s about me as an individual, as a freestyle rider or as a racing rider: it’s always a question of being creative and showing the audience new, exciting things. It is simply amazing when the crowd starts to cheer even before you’ve started. I really appreciate the great support provided by BMW, and for me the F 800 R is simply the perfect stunt motorcycle – as demonstrated by my recent success.”
All this was reason enough for BMW Motorrad to mark Chris Pfeiffer’s success on the new F 800 R by bringing out a special model, the BMW F 800 R Chris Pfeiffer, closely resembling his competition bike. In addition there are the elaborate paintwork , the special edition sports Akrapovic® muffler and other features to enhance the motorcycle’s sporty style. The basic technical characteristics remain unchanged from the standard model.
The engine in the F 800 R Chris Pfeiffer is again the liquid-cooled parallel twin with 4-valve technology and with a capacity of 798 cc. As in the F 800 R, the in-line 2-cylinder engine provides especially impressive pulling power, spontaneous response and a low level of fuel consumption.
Even in the lower engine speed range, the 4-valve engine - not especially short-stroke in design, with a bore/stroke ratio of 82.0 to 75.6 millimetres - quickly increases engine speed, building up 90 per cent of maximum torque at just 5,000 rpm. Between 5,000 and 8,000 rpm the engine provides an impressively dynamic level of power delivery, to the accompaniment of a unique sound. With a nominal output of 64 kW/87 bhp at 8,000 rpm, the engine produces a torque of 86 Nm at 6,000 rpm. Chris Pfeiffer on the unique twin: “The engine is loads of fun - I love its response even in the low and medium engine speed range, as well as its enormously wide rpm range, both when riding on the road and for stunt riding. Then there is the perfect throttle response and sensitive controllability of the 2-cylinder engine - absolutely imperative to be able to perform spectacular stunts.”
In its design, the F 800 R Chris Pfeiffer is the same as that of its eponym from the Allgäu. The multicolour paint finish in the BMW Motorsport colours of Alpine White non-metallic, Lupine Blue metallic, Magma Red non-metallic and Black silk matt contrast with the black drivetrain and swing arm; a white front wheel completes the sporty outfit. The standard, painted pillion passenger seat cover of the F 800 R Chris Pfeiffer also reflects the machine’s sporty purpose. The fact that it does not have cockpit fairing merely serves to emphasise the powerful, purist character of this special model. The F 800 R Chris Pfeiffer also attains a very high level of individuality, authenticity and value due to the overpainted Chris Pfeiffer signature on the central cover and the sponsor stickers which are supplied with the bike and can be optionally applied.
In terms of riding dynamics, the F 800 R Chris Pfeiffer delivers everything its sporty exterior promises. The “little roadster” by BMW Motorrad has already found more than 3,000 fans since May for its very agile, sporty performance. This is just what Chris Pfeiffer wants for his shows and competitions and will be much appreciated by sports-oriented motorcyclists on winding country roads or in the mountains.
Features which contribute to the exceptional dynamic performance in the F 800 R are the low weight of just 199 kg fully fuelled, the sprint-oriented gear ratio and the chassis, which is specially adapted to the demands of a sporty naked bike with light alloy bridge frame and dual rear wheel swing arm. Uniquely for the special model F 800 R Chris Pfeiffer, the spring of the rear spring strut is finished in red to match the bike’s sporty multicolour paint finish.
Chris Pfeiffer himself is happy to confirm the excellent chassis properties from his virtually day-to-day contact with the F 800 R: “The fact that no changes have been made to by competition version shows just how easy the F 800 R is to ride. I simply vary the tyre pressure, depending on road conditions. That really says it all.”
The new F 800 R Chris Pfeiffer is fitted as standard with the very sporty rear silencer by Akrapovic®, otherwise only available as a special accessory. Its main advantages over the standard silencer are reduced weight and a throatier sound. Like the sporty rear silencer, the LED direction indicators (for Canada: white direction indicators) contribute to the dynamic appearance of this special model.
In addition to this, the F 800 R Chris Pfeiffer can also draw on the extensive BMW Motorrad option and accessory program to fulfil any further customer demands in terms of individual equipment features.
The market launch will be at the beginning of September 2009.
Chris Pfeiffer was at the Berlin Spandau plant in person at the beginning of July 2009 for the start of serial production of this F 800 R special model: he lent a hand himself and even rode the very first BMW F 800 R Chris Pfeiffer off the assembly line. As a small thank-you for this first special model bearing his name, the four-times World and European Stunt-Riding Champion provided a “best of” selection from his numerous stunt shows and competitions for the staff at the BMW Motorrad production plant. As he said when it was all over: “I am very pleased and proud that there will be a BMW Motorcycle on sale which bears my name. I regard this as both a great honour and powerful source of motivation. Riding the first machine to bear my signature off the production line really was a unique experience.”

2010 BMW F800R

2010 BMW F800R
Unstoppable Adrenaline.
Make the city your urban playground with the new F800R. Its low dry weight offers superior agility and breathtaking handling, combined with the highest torque output in its class. The F800R is the bike of choice for triple Stunt Riding World Champion Chris Pfeiffer. This bike will take the ultimate thrill-seeker on the ride of a lifetime.
The much anticipated F800R Sport Roadster joined the F800 Series lineup this fall, debuting as a 2010 model in September with an MSRP of $9,990.
The heart of the new F800R is the now familiar 798cc parallel twin shared within the F800 family, rated at 87 bhp @ 8,000 rpm while delivering 86 Nm of torque @ 6,000 rpm. The additional two horsepower, when compared to the other F800 family members, is due to a redesigned exhaust system. The robust powerplant also features intake manifold fuel injection, electronic engine management, oxygen sensor and separate closed-loop 3-way catalytic convertor and secondary air system, for low fuel consumption and optimized emissions.
The F800R has a slightly longer double-sided swing arm and, in keeping with its sporting orientation, incorporates an O-ring chain secondary drive. Other highlights are new compact MID (Moulded Interconnected Devices) technology, featuring a left-handlebar multifunction signal switch and asymmetrical H7 headlights that echo the design of its K1300R Power Roadster sibling.

The new F 800 R is radically different, and yet every inch a BMW. The state-of-the-art parallel twin engine with electronic fuel injection develops 87hp from its 798cc, not to mention a mighty 86Nm of torque. And with the Akrapovic sport silencer retrofitted, its sound is every bit as impressive as its performance.
The 320-millimetre Brembo double disk brake at the front ensures maximum stopping power, while optional BMW Motorrad ABS and TPC Tyre Pressure Control further enhance safety. The bike is also highly manoeuvrable, thanks in part to the lightweight aluminium in its rigid frame and dynamically styled double swing-arm, which helps keep its dry weight down to just 177 kilograms. Handling is incredibly precise, thanks to the excellence of the suspension set-up, and a fuel tank located under the seat for a lower centre of gravity.
A wealth of design options, including LED indicators, painted components and radiator trims, give it an even sportier look. Streetbike freestyle World Champion Chris Pfeiffer says of his new BMW F 800 R; 'The outstanding qualities of this machine mean I can really take it to the limit, and help me to come up with new, even more extreme tricks!'

Features and Specifications
•The heart of the new F800R is the now familiar 798cc parallel twin shared within the F800 family, rated at 87 bhp @ 8,000 rpm while delivering 86 Nm of torque @ 6,000 rpm.
•The F800R has a slightly longer swing double-sided arm (5 cm) cast in light alloy and shorter caster than its (now discontinued in Canada) F800S sibling and reduced spring clearance at both the front and rear, along with a fork stabiliser to provide even better stability and agility.
•In keeping with its pure Sport Roadster nature, and unlike its F800S and ST brethren, the F800R incorporates an O-ring chain secondary drive.
•With 320-millimetre brake discs and Brembo 4-piston fixed brake calipers at the front wheel, and a 265 mm rear discs with a single-piston floating calliper, the F800R brake systems emulates that of high-displacement sportbikes. The new F800R ABS system, engineered in cooperation with Bosch, has been further developed and it now also has an improved lift-off detection system for the rear wheel.
•Gears ratios in the F800R gearbox are identical to the F800S and ST from first through third gear, with shorter gearing in fourth through sixth gears.
•Contributing to the excellent handling dynamics of the F800R are balanced weight distribution and a fully-fueled weight of only 204 kg (unladen 182 kg.).
•The F800R wears the same “Speed”-style wheels as the F800S – with a 3.5 x 17” front rim wearing a 120/70 ZR tire, with a 5.5 X 17” wheel sporting a 180/55 ZR 17 tire.
•Asymmetrical H7 headlights echo the design of its K1300R Power Roadster sibling.
•As introduced with the new K1300 Series bikes, the F800R incorporates new compact MID (Moulded Interconnected Devices) technology, highlighted by a left-handlebar multifunction signal switch.
•Three dynamic paint finishes are available for the F800R: White Aluminum Metallic, Flame Orange and Alpine White/Black Silk – all in combination with a black seat.

BMW Motorrad Canada Announces 2010 Pricing and Product Updates
16.11.2009
Press Release
Whitby, ON. BMW Motorrad Canada is pleased to announce the introduction of three new models for 2010 - the breathtaking S1000RR, the F800R and the G650GS Enduro, along with upgraded R1200RT, R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure models and three special editions.

S1000RR

F800R

F800R - Chris Pfeiffer Special Edition
In recognition of Chris’s outstanding achievements with the F800, BMW Motorrad has developed a Chris Pfeiffer Special Edition of the new F800R, which integrates a special factory-team paint scheme and a list of special equipment, including:

•Akrapovic® rear silencer for a dynamic appearance and a sporty sound.
•Rear strut spring finished in red.
•Painted pillion passenger seat cover.
•Highly unique visual appearance with paint finish in the BMW Motorsport colours of Alpine White non-metallic, Lupine Blue metallic and Magma Red non-metallic, contrasting with elements in black silk matt.
•Front wheel finished in white.
•Clear overpainted Chris Pfeiffer signature on the central cover.
•Set of sponsor stickers supplied.
•No cockpit fairing.
•LED direction indicators.

The Chris Pfeiffer Special Edition will command a premium of $1,350 with an MSRP of $11,250 and be available in limited quantities.

G650GS Enduro
An evolution of the former single-cylinder BMW F650GS, the 2010 G650GS joins the BMW Motorrad lineup with an MSRP of $8,750.
The familiar 652cc liquid-cooled four-valve DOHC powerplant remains little changed from its predecessor, featuring BMW’s Digital Motor Electronics and fuel injection, engine management version BMS-CII, and high-performance cylinder head technology, producing 50 bhp at 6,500 and maximum torque of 44 ft-lb at 4,800 rpm. Power transmission is still maintained by the proven five-speed gearbox and an O-ring chain drive.
The new G 650 GS’s brake system, however, is upgraded with standard ABS featuring the new generation BMW Motorrad Bosch 8 M ABS control unit weighing only 1.5 kilograms. ABS can also be deactivated, as on the GS boxer twins. Single discs brakes at both front and rear measure 340mm and 240mm, respectively.
The new G650GS continues with a stiff steel bridge tubular frame with bolt-on lower frame section and rear subframe. The 19-inch front spoke wheel is suspended by a Showa telescopic fork with 170 mm/ 6.7" spring travel. The 17-inch rear wheel runs in a two-arm box-type swingarm with a central spring strut with adjustable preload and travel of165 mm/ 6.5" . Standard seat height is a very compatible 780mm, with an optional lowering kit available for $200 ex-factory.
With heated grips also fitted as standard equipment, the new G650GS is available in two colors – Deep Black and Red, both combined with a black tank, further highlighted by matte black engine surface. The new level of standard equipment leave only two available options – the aforementioned lowering kit and a centre stand ($170).

R1200RT
The iconic BMW R1200RT emerges in 2010 with an MSRP of $20,200 and significant changes that further reinforce its position as the benchmark in the touring motorcycle category.
Most prominently, the R1200RT is now powered by the same latest-generation flat-twin engine as the BMW HP2 Sport. Equipped with two overhead chain-driven camshafts (DOHC) per cylinder and dual spark plugs, the new 1,170 cc engine embodies a smoother torque curve with an increase in maximum torque from 85 - 88 lb-ft at 6,000 rpm, while the (unchanged)110 horsepower occurs at 7,750 rpm (previously 7,500 rpm) and the overall range of useful engine speed increased by 500 rpm to a maximum 8,500 rpm.
Additional new features on the 2010 R1200RT are highlighted by:

•An electronically controlled exhaust flap for an aggressive muscular sound.
•Second-generation ESA II Electronic Suspension Adjustment with damping, spring base and now also spring rate adjustable at the touch of a button.
•BMW Motorrad Integral ABS - partly integrated version.
•Newly designed fairing with improved wind and weather protection
•Re-designed cockpit with new instrument cluster and matte visor to minimize reflection.
•New generation signal switch cluster mounted on the left handlebar.
•Handlebars now mounted on rubber bearings to optimize vibration control.
•Electronically controlled windshield with optimized aero-acoustics and improved transparency.
•New optional Audio System featuring interfaces for an MP3 player, an iPod, USB stick or CD player. The new system can store nine playback lists on a USB/MP3 or iPod, and is controlled by a new mouse-type Multi-Controller.
•Adjustable gearshift lever with an eccentric control bar.

The R1200RT comes, of course, with standard hard-shell cases, offering a capacity on each side of 32 litres, with case brackets integrated almost fully into the body and finished in body color, along with four locking points. Additional top cases are available in either 28 or 49 litre sizes and mount directly to the standard luggage rack.
Four dynamic new color choices for the R1200RT enhance the contrast between the color of the body and the matt-painted engine spoiler as well as the seat finished exclusively in black on all models: Thunder Grey Metallic, Polar Metallic, Ostra Grey Metallic and a combination of Thunder Grey /Titan Silver and Granite Grey Metallics.

R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure
Like their boxer-twin sibling, the R1200RT, the new 2010 R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure also feature the same latest-generation flat-twin DOHC engine as the BMW HP2 Sport, producing 110 horsepower and a heftier 88 lb-ft of torque. The new engine is also equipped with an electronically controlled exhaust flap for an even more aggressive and muscular exhaust note.
The upgraded engine is mated to the proven six-speed transmission with larger diameter bearings and numerically higher secondary gear ratio, enhancing the new robust torque curve.
Debuting with an MSRP of $17,650 for the R1200GS and $20,300 for the GS Adventure, both models will sport a new range of colors, the R1200GS available in Ostra Grey Matte Metallic, along with two non-metallic options – Alpine White and Magma Red. The R1200GS Adventure is available in either Smoke Grey Metallic or Brilliant Yellow Metallic, the latter combined with a Black Olive Grey seat.

R1200R Touring Edition
The popular R1200R naked urban motorcycle will continue to offer its perfect synthesis of riding dynamics, agility and classic motorcycle design in 2010, and will be joined by a new Touring Edition.
Targeted at the rider whose itinerary might include substantial long-distance travel, the R1200R Touring Edition features:

•Sport Windshield
•Side Luggage with Coded Locks
•Comfort Seat
•Luggage Rack
•On-board computer
•Chromed Exhaust
•White Turn Indicators
At a premium of $1,000 over the standard base R1200R, the Touring Edition has an MSRP of $15,950.

HP2 Sport Motorsport Edition
The sportiest and most powerful series production flat twin of all time, the HP2 Sport continues into model year 2010 with the addition of a special Motorsport Edition.
The HP2 Sport Motorsport Edition continues to be powered by the familiar flat twin engine equipped with double overhead camshafts delivering 133 hp at 8750 rpm, but emulating the look of the BMW Motorrad Motorsport factory racers, featuring fairing, fuel tank, seat bench, front mudguard and engine spoiler painted in the BMW Motorsport colours Alpine White, Lupine Blue metallic and Magma Red.
The HP2 Sport Motorsport Edition has an MSRP of $27,590.

The balance of the BMW Motorrad lineup carries over into model year 2010, making for an undiminished total of fifteen models. Notable exceptions are the G650X Country, F800S and K1200LT, which are now discontinued.

The 2010 F800R is in BMW Motorrad showrooms now, while the new S1000RR will be available in January, the R1200RT and R1200GS and GS Adventure will be on sale in February of 2010.
