2010 HONDA CBR1000RRA
The word is out: the remarkable Honda CBR1000RRA takes open-class performance to a whole new level of excitement. Although it's physically small for amazingly crisp ¬handling, the CBR1000RRA retains the rider-friendly ergonomics that make it a great street bike, too. Honda's innovative Electronically Controlled Combined ABS — the first Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) designed specifically for the unique demands of sportbikes — gives the CBR1000RRA superb braking capability. And for 2010 a redesigned flywheel means even smoother power delivery and improved performance from the compact, fuel-injected engine.
ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN
Durable #530 Extremely compact exhaust system incorporates a catalytic converter and control valve in mid-muffler that reduces rear bodywork size and significantly improves mass centralization, reducing roll and yaw inertia. Radical clutch design not only provides slip in throttle-off conditions, but also provides positive lock under power. Starter gears located on the right side for increased lean angle. Maintenance-free automatic cam-chain tensioner.High-capacity radiator with twin cooling fans. MotoGP-derived twin ram-air system allows high volume (9.7-litre airbox) of cool air for incredible engine performance. Small and light ECU features two 3-D fuel injection maps per cylinder/two 3D ignition maps per cylinder pair creating an ideal fuel mixture for superb rideability. Auto-enriching system is integrated into programmed fuel injection (PGM-FI) module, eliminating the need for a manual choke. 46 mm throttle bodies feature Denso injectors with lightweight valving for faster reaction time and 12 holes per injector to optimize mixture atomization, combustion efficiency and power. Dual Stage Fuel Injection (DSFI) delivers the precise fuel/air mixture to the engine for efficient combustion and crisp performance at high engine rpm. Lightweight nutless, cold forged connecting rods. Forged-aluminum thinner high-strength pistons featuring molybdenum coating result in reduced friction. Intake ports use new shot-peening technology for improved power and torque. Titanium intake valves with double-spring control allow for high rpm and increased performance. Sixteen-valve cylinder head features 30.5 mm intake and 24 mm exhaust valves with a 12.3:1 compression ratio for efficient combustion and high horsepower. Liquid-cooled DOHC 16-valve 999cc four-stroke inline four-cylinder engine features bore and stroke dimensions of 76 mm x 55.1 mm.
CHASSIS/SUSPENSION
Front brake system features radial-mounted four-piston calipers and 320 Full braking performance immediately available, giving you that extra peace of mind. Combine this with the small size and weight of the components, and you have one amazing system. An innovative stroke simulator helps to maintain the same sort of feel at the brake lever and pedal as you're used to. The system measures rider input on both the front brake lever and rear brake pedal (plus data from other sensors), then using sophisticated electronics and two separate power units, generates up to the maximum braking force on both wheels while also preventing wheel lockup. This innovative system combines the benefits of anti-lock brakes and linked front and rear brakes to improve both braking control and safety — all without interfering with cornering ability or other aspects of sport performance. The CBR1000RRA comes with the world's first Electronically Controlled Combined ABS for sportbikes. It also permits repositioning of the fuel tank lower and closer to the machine's centre of mass. With no top frame mount for the shock, this unique system reduces negative suspension energy from being transmitted into the frame, allowing optimum frame rigidity and improved rideability out of corners. The upper shock mount is contained within the swingarm rather than being mounted to the frame. Exclusive Unit Pro-Link Rear Suspension is patterned after Honda's world-championship-winning MotoGP RC211V. 43 mm inverted aluminum-slider cartridge front fork features spring preload, rebound and compression damping adjustability. MotoGP-derived Honda Electronic Steering Damper (HESD) . Lightweight Hollow Fine Die-Cast twin-spar aluminum frame utilizes MotoGP technology.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
1 year, unlimited mileage, freely transferable warranty. Lightweight maintenance-free battery. Convenient push-to-cancel turn-signal switch. Folding aerodynamic mirrors. Convenient ignition switch/fork lock for added security. Plastic tank shell cover protects tank and airbox.LED taillights for improved appearance. Redesigned exhaust cover.Redesigned licence stay for easy removal on track days. Line-beam headlight features two-piece reflector design utilizing two H7 bulbs for optimum light distribution and unique compact design.A low-fuel LED light and shift-indicator light is located above the LCD. High-tech instrument display features tachometer, LCD readouts for speedometer, coolant temperature, odometer, two tripmeters and a clock, mpg and average fuel consumption.High-capacity 413-watt alternator.
